Dr. L. Kevin Wells, a native of Mississippi, earned his bachelor of science from Mississippi College and his doctorate of dental medicine from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Following dental school, he completed a residency in general practice dentistry in Columbus, OH, where he later entered private practice. He then pursued specialty training in endodontics at Ohio State University, where he earned both a master's degree and a certificate of graduate studies in endodontics. His master's research was published in the Journal of Endodontics.
Dr. Wells is married to Dr. Martha Wells, who serves as chief of dentistry at St. Jude Children's Hospital. They have three children: Luke, Sam, and Juliet. Outside of work, Dr. Wells enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, and playing golf.
Dr. Wells is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Association of Endodontics, the American Dental Association, the Tennessee Dental Association, the Memphis Dental Society, and the Tennessee Association of Endodontists.
In 2013, Dr. Wells was honored with the "Outstanding Young Dentist of the Year Award" from the Memphis Dental Society in recognition of his contributions to organized dentistry in the Memphis community. He has also been inducted into the Richard Doggett Dean Honor Society at the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry. Dr. Wells has served on the board of the Memphis Dental Society and held the position of president for the 2022 – 2023 term.
This was the best experience ever! From meeting the receptionist Shannon (sweet and patient)via phone to scheduling my appointment then going to the office for the 1st time for consultation. Dr Wells is amazing and does tremendous work! He walked me through every step and I mean every step of my root canal to make sure I was comfortable and less nervous! He is truly passionate about what he does and his assistant Lauren as well! They really work great as a team! I would indeed recommend Dr. Wells to anyone in need of a root canal (I am very pleased)! Dr. Wells, Lauren, Sharron, Kristen and the entire staff of Memphis Endodontics were knowledgeable and kind. They made what most perceived to be very unpleasant procedure not that unpleasant. The decor really transports you, not only away from a doctor’s office, but out of Memphis. You really feel like you’re at a calming cabin retreat!
Everything about my visit here was pleasant. The assistant to Dr. Wells was extremely sweet and knowledgeable. She made it easy being in that chair. Dr. Wells was direct and to the point. I have dental aniexty and these two people were very calming !! If you are looking, this is your sign.
